THE SUITCASE

I love a craft. From the feedback I’ve had on this little craftivity I’d say you’re all with me. This one is ideal for students who have mastered the art of cutting with scissors and can follow simple instructions for cutting, folding and glueing.

Take a look at the finished product above and believe me when I say, it is worth getting the glue sticks out for!

and then what?

The PDF comes with a page of mini pictures that students can cut out and load into their paper suitcase. There are so many options so all they need to do is think about the type of clothing (hot/cold/rainy/su protection etc.), the accessoires, their home comforts. practocal things such as currency and phrase books.
It’s a great warm-up activity to get them to use their imagination and make predictions about the place they are visiting on their virtual field trip.

Or maybe you will use it as a follow-up or reporting activity. Students could write a journal or article about their virtual field trip, fold it up and store it in their paper suitcase for safe-keeping.

Imagine stringing all of your students’ suitcases from the ceiling or attaching them all to a bulletin board. What a fantastic visual memory. What an intriguing hook for people walking into yuor classroom. What a fabulous talking pont between student and their grown-ups of you send the suitcase home.
